On October 7th, 2011, 5 preteens, one teen helper and two fearless leaders gathered to embark on their first service project of the fourfivesix LIT Ministry.
This was a project that was formulated in the minds and hearts of the Sunday morning LIT Ministry preteens. They heard about the Great Coats, Hats, and Gloves give away the church would be doing in a few weeks. Their hope, prayer, and plan was to be a vital part in the Great Coats, Hats and Gloves give away. They talked, they prayed, they sought council, then put their plan into action in partnership with the kind lady overseeing the giveaway.
On October 7th they decided to work for 3 hours writing notes of encouragement, love, and a simple hello to the children who would be receiving the coats being handed out on October 15th. These 5 kids wrote 261 notes in 40 minutes. I was stunned and amazed to find out how quickly they accomplished this task.
Because of their teamwork and the way they followed direction they received an extra blessing in their lives that evening: a couple of hours building community with each other though a simple game of hide and go seek. (My son who is a part of this ministry talked continuously about this project and the fun he had with the other kids present.)
