I’ve found that I don’t practice what I preach. I tell the preteens to be the unique person God created them to be. Yet, when I visit (or read about) another cool preteen ministry, my first inclination is to be just like them. I want to mimic one person’s amazing environments. I want to be like the girl who knows every video game and how to get to the highest level. Never mind that I don’t own a video game or controller. I’ll go for the latest technology because my ministry friend is using it super effectively even though I’m a complete dork when it comes to anything electronic. I want to lead the teaching time while playing the guitar just like this awesome girl at another successful preteen ministry.
God’s really been working on me. I need to be what He created for me to be so that the students watching me will have permission to be who they were created to be. They can spot my “wanna be” tendencies so easily.
