I came across this interesting e-guide put together by the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health.
It’s a report that identifies characteristics of quality after-school programs that are linked to positive outcomes for preteens. Although the focus is on after-school programs (programs between 3 and 6 during the weekday).
I found many of the principles could be applied to a preteen ministry as well, such as clearly defined goals, an emphasis on positive adult-youth relationships, and including the family. Plus there’s tons of little tid bit info about preteens. Check it out!
